Common Mistakes Made When Buying a Wood or Gas Stove Without Professional Consultation

1. Install Stoves in Fireplaces
This problem can be costly and dangerous. People often improperly size the stove's BTUs relative to the chimney flue or passageway flow capacity. In other words, they don't run a properly sized chimney liner all the way to the top of the chimney allowing for proper ventilation.

2. Don't Adhere to Proper NFPA codes and clearances
The most common violation we see, is an installation that is too close to combustables (see our quick tips for more here).

3. Mis-Judge the BTU's of the stove relative to the room they are trying to heat
This is a simple miscalutation that is an easy mistake for people to make. We often find simply getting this right is a little that goes a long way, and is something our consultants can completely take you through.
